Two more titles confirmed for OFF Generation Features: "Next to you" by Stevan Filipović closes the Festival
Stevan Filipović's film will also close the 15th Telemach Youth Film Festival Sarajevo, and it is especially important that it is shown at this very moment, because it depicts the current struggle of the citizens of Serbia against the regime and all the problems and flaws of the system.
Two more feature films confirmed for OFF Generation Features - feature film competition program. The recently completed film "Next to you", directed by Stevan Filipović, and the film "I Have Electric Dreams" directed by Valentina Maurel.
Stevan Filipović's film will also close the 15th Telemach Youth Film Festival Sarajevo, and it is especially important that it is shown at this very moment, because it depicts the current struggle of the citizens of Serbia against the regime and all the problems and flaws of the system.
By the way, this is Filipović's second film from the trilogy, after the film "Next to me", in which the characters from the high school class, who spent the night locked in the school in the previous film ("Next to me"), five years later become suspects in the investigation of a mysterious death friends from school.
The main character Ksenija (Mina Nikolić) is a journalist who tries to solve this mystery from her apartment, constrained by the state of emergency and the epidemic.
The film follows her transformation from a tabloid to a serious investigative journalist, as she tries to untangle the web of entertainment, media and political spins and lies that separate her from the truth.
In addition to this, Ksenija also experiences a private drama, in the fight against the virus, from which her grandmother (an English woman who emigrated to SFRY in the late sixties) fell ill. In the middle of the investigation, Ksenija is pushed into a seemingly impossible fight with our health system. The role of Ksenia's grandmother is played by the famous British-Australian actress Miriam Margolyes.
The film "I Have Electric Dreams" is the story of Eva, a 16-year-old girl, who lives with her mother, younger sister and their cat, but wants to move in with her father, who is separated from them. Clinging to him, she tries to balance between the tenderness and sensitivity of teenage life. The OFF Generation Features program brings 8 titles this year, and will be shown at three Open Air cinema locations.
So far, the films confirmed in this selection are: The Lost Boys (Belgium/France) Dir. Zeno Garton, EO (Poland/Italy) Dir. Jerzy Skolimowski, Close (Belgium) Dir. Lukas Dhont, When Everything Will Be Like It Was Before (Germany) Dir. Sonja Heiss, Elaha (Germany) Dir. Milena Aboyan and The Path (Germany) Dir. Tobias Wiemann, of which two films were nominated for the Oscars 2023.
