On Zero Discrimination Day, March 1, we celebrate everyone’s right to live a full and productive life — and live it with dignity. Zero Discrimination Day highlights how people can become informed and promote inclusion, compassion, peace and, above all, movement for change. Zero Discrimination Day helps create a global movement of solidarity to end all forms of discrimination.
Symbolically on March 1, the Telemach Youth Film Festival Sarajevo adopted and published the Festival’s Anti-Discrimination Policy, emphasizing the importance of promoting equal rights and the right to freedom and choice. Although OFF has been constantly and strongly advocating for equal rights for all since its foundation, it is of great importance to make official the official document and position of the Festival, especially in a year when the growth of radical right-wing ideas, discriminatory migration policies and the violation of the rights of minorities, LGBTQ+ is being recorded across Europe and the world. community, women, children and other forms of discrimination and violence.
Among other things, it is stated:
“Youth Film Festival Sarajevo does not accept sexism, racism, colorism, homophobia, biphobia, interphobia and transphobia or hostility, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, fascism, age discrimination, ableism and other and/or intersectional forms of discrimination.
In addition, the Sarajevo Youth Film Festival does not tolerate any acts of violence, abuse or harassment of any verbal, physical, sexual or other nature towards its visitors, guests, partners and employees. In case of violation of the Code of Conduct, the Sarajevo Youth Film Festival reserves the right to deny persons the right to access the festival together and at the same time at the locations or in the online areas.”
The Sarajevo Youth Film Festival will not be a place where those who support discrimination and attitudes that lead to divisions have come, and will strongly, as before, be on the side of those who cannot speak and aggressively promote and demand freedom of speech and determination in every sense.
