The OFF Youth Experience (OFF_YE) is an exchange program that brings together young people from the region who are passionate about film, storytelling, and the world around them. As part of the Telemach Youth Film Festival Sarajevo, it provides a space for participants to connect, learn, and express themselves through cinema and creative collaboration.
Through workshops, discussions, and hands-on filmmaking activities, participants will gain valuable insights from industry professionals, learning about different aspects of filmmaking, production, and storytelling. As members of the youth jury, they will also take an active role in evaluating films in the OFF Shorts category, developing their critical thinking and appreciation for cinema.
But OFF_YE is about more than just film. In a world facing uncertainty, division, and rapid change, this program empowers young voices, encouraging them to challenge narratives, ask difficult questions, and explore how creativity can inspire action. This year’s edition carries the theme “Expressing Our Voices, Framing the Future,” emphasizing the role of young people in shaping not only the future of cinema but the future of society as a whole. By fostering dialogue, exchange, and collaboration, OFF_YE provides a platform for the next generation to make their voices heard—both on and off the screen.
OFF_YE Talks and Workshops are designed to inspire, educate, and empower young participants by connecting them with experienced professionals from the film industry and beyond. These sessions create a space for meaningful discussions, hands-on learning, and creative collaboration.
OFF_YE Talks bring together filmmakers, industry experts, and cultural figures to share their insights on cinema, storytelling, and the broader challenges facing today’s world. Through open conversations, participants gain new perspectives on the power of film as a tool for change, the evolving landscape of the creative industries, and the role of young voices in shaping the future.
OFF_YE Workshops provide a practical, interactive environment where participants can explore different aspects of filmmaking, from directing and screenwriting to cinematography and editing. Guided by professionals, they will engage in creative exercises, experiment with storytelling techniques, and collaborate on audiovisual projects. These sessions are designed to encourage self-expression, critical thinking, and teamwork, equipping participants with the skills and confidence to bring their ideas to life.
Together, OFF_YE Talks and Workshops foster an exchange of knowledge and creativity, ensuring that young participants not only learn from experts but also contribute their own perspectives.
