On the Italian island of Sardinia, the 14th edition of the Figari International Short Film Festival and Short Film Market is underway. This year, the OFF Pro Film Market, specifically the Telemach Youth Film Festival Sarajevo, is participating through the industry segment. The Director of the Festival, Kenan Music, presented the upcoming edition of Telemach OFF at the opening of the market sessions. He highlighted the significance of the OFF Pro Film Market and explained why it is deservedly considered the most important market for short films in this part of Europe.
The Film Market as part of the Figari Film Festival brought together well-known young talents from the world of film, including several who began their careers at OFF back in 2017. In addition to participating in the FISF market program, Kenan Music is also part of the jury for national and regional films, alongside Christian Aviles, a young director from Spain. Aviles’ first short film was showcased at the Berlinale Shorts 2023 and was later nominated for the best European short film.
FISFF is one of the most important Italian festivals for short films, annually attracting dozens of young producers, authors, and directors from all over Italy, the region, and countries involved in co-productions. Kenan Music used this opportunity to invite independent producers to visit Sarajevo and shoot there, emphasizing that Sarajevo is a UNESCO city of film. Additionally, Music mentioned that this year’s OFF Pro Film Market is held under the auspices of the French Embassy and the French Institute in BiH, with France being the country in focus. He also invited Italian authors to participate in the market and urged them to pay special attention to project applications for 2025 when Italy will be the country in focus.
FISFF will conclude on Tuesday, June 18, with the award ceremony.
